TEEM interns gain firsthand knowledge about the field of environmental education through field trips, one-on-one mentorships with our professional educators, and by leading interactive activities with our elementary school participants.

The Teen Environmental Education Mentorship (TEEM) is a paid internship in environmental education and leadership for San Francisco and Marin High School Students.Through TEEM; participants discover their inner strengths as leaders, their ability to influence others, and the importance of community.TEEM interns gain first-hand knowledge about the field of environmental education through field trips, mentorships with our professional educators, leading interactive activities with our elementary school students, and creating their own environmental teaching tools.

TEEM interns make the following commitment:

-Attend summer training August 9 to 13th with one overnight camping trip

-Work one day a week on NatureBridge’s campus,either Tuesday or Thursday from 4:30pm to 7:30pm, September 2016 through May 2017. During these work sessions, interns will teach children about the environment through fun hands-on activities, learn about environmental issues, develop teaching skills, and take care of plants and animals on our campus.

-Participate in one weekend event per month during the school year.

-Transportation to NatureBridge’s Campus in the Golden Gate is provided for TEEM interns from San Francisco (pick up at Park Presidio/Geary) and the Marin City Bus Stop (Sausalito)

Target Group:
San Francisco and Marin high school students. We seek applicants who are open to new experiences, want to be part of a diverse learning community and want to learn more about their environment and how they can make a difference. Interns are responsible and motivated young adults who enjoy being outdoors and enjoy working with elementary and middle school aged children. Candidates should be excited about one or more of the following: education, environment, science, community stewardship, and leadership. TEEM is a paid internship.
Must be high school student in San Francisco or Marin
* Currently enrolled in high school. * Able to attend TEEM summer training August 9-13, 2016 and midyear retreat January 21-22, 2017 * Able to work 430-7:30pm once a week (Tuesday or Thursday) and attend one TEEM Saturday event per month, September 2016-May 2017. * Able to miss one full school day during the fall, and one half day in the spring to do a field observation and classroom lesson. * Please note, no prior experience in environmental education or leadership is required.
